Los Blancos were not able to win last week's match, thus forcing them to claim all three points here to avoid falling even further behind.

Real Madrid enters Matchday 5 in La Liga after dropping a couple of points at San Mamés Stadium. With that in mind, Los Blancos will try to get back to winning ways when they face Espanyol, a team that has been rather easy to beat for them in recent history.

Julen Lopetegui's men come to this match fresh off a 3-0 win against Roma in the UEFA Champions League, which sould give their coach a chance to mix things up. Matchday 6 is just around the corner, and the Spanish boss could opt to give some of his substitute players a chance to play from the start in this game.

Players such as Thibaut Courtois, Alvaro Odriozola and Mariano Díaz could be handed a spot in the team's lineup, considering the busy schedule the team will have in the next couple of weeks. Los Blancos have no absences of any kind, which increases the chance of a number of rotations for this game.

Regarding the visitors, Rubi's men have started the season on a high note, winning two out of their four matches and currently ranked 6th in La Liga. Los Periquitos will face this game with nothing but victory on their minds, led by a couple of former Real Madrid players: goalkeeper Diego López and midfielder Esteban Granero.

Center back David López is the only injury concern for the Catalan side.
