Many football fans are crying for justice to be served but will UEFA yield to the pleas?

A massive debate has stemmed from the 29th-minute incident which resulted in Juventus being handicapped prior to their 2-0 win over Valencia at the Mestalla. The review of the footage shows Cristiano Ronaldo placing his hand on the head of Jeison Murillo as a reaction provoked by his disagreement with the player taking a tumble under no compulsion.

Although it appeared to be a none aggressive action, the lot was cast and referee Felix Brych gave the former Real Madrid man his marching orders. Some have called the decision 'ridiculous', and others have branded it 'unwarranted.

Nonetheless, will UEFA ever heed to these labels and be coerced to rescind the decision? For Cristiano Ronaldo, it was a sheer nightmare receiving his first-ever red card in the UEFA Champions League on the night he possibly envisaged a dream debut for Juventus in the competition.

To talk of the worse nature of its timing, the incident trails the day his arch-nemesis Lionel Messi bagged a hat-trick as Barcelona run riot against PSV Eindhoven. Somewhat positively, many top and knowledgeable fellows in the sport have already discredited the validity of the red card and this could be a step in the right direction for UEFA to make the right decision should Juventus submit an appeal.

The big question, however, remains whether the Bianconeri will have the kind of influence to push the agenda. At Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo had Florentino Perez in his corner mostly fighting the silent battles. With the Portuguese forward switching affiliation to don the colors of the Bianconeri, the time is very ripe for club president Andre Agnelli and chief executive Guissepe Marotta to flex their muscle in asking for justice for the Italian champions' most-prized asset.
