The French manager has warned his player to keep a level head despite winning the World Cup.

Head coach of the French national team Didier Deschamps has asked his players be wary of the ills of letting the World Cup win get to their heads. The 1998 World Cup winner led a new generation of Les Bleus to glory on the world stage for the first time in 20 years by beating Croatia 4-2 in the final at Russia 2018.

On Thursday, Didier Deschamps and his men will travel to the Allianz Arena to take on Germany in their first game of the inaugral UEFA Nations League tournament. France was drawn in Group A of the League A alongside their upcoming opponent and 2010 World Cup finalists Netherlands.

Speaking at the press conference ahead of the upcoming encounter, the French manager asked his players to be motivated by the success they recently enjoyed rather than allow it to lead them to doom.

"I told my players that this title must be a strength, not a burden," Deschamps stated.

"If we fall to euphoria, we will quickly be caught."

Decorated centre-back Raphael Varane rehashed his manager's words and higlighted that the team is already targeting another triumphant campaign despite capturing the World Cup in July.

"Our status as world champions will not change the way that we approach our games," the 25-year-old defender declared.

"We are enjoying this success but already planning the next."
