The Italian manager has explained the motive behind his exit from the Bavarians.

Carlo Ancelotti reveals the reason why he was sacked by Bayern Munich Carlo Ancelotti has finally disclosed the cause of his sack from Bayern Munich. The 59 years old manager replaced Pep Guardiola and led the Bundesliga champions to their fifth consecutive title in the 2016/2017 season.

However, a tough start to life in the 2017/2018 season facilitated Carlo Ancelotti's sack. Following the Bavarian's 3-2 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the group-stage of the UEFA Champions League, reports surfaced that the manager had lost the dressing room and had a host of senior players wanting him to face the boot.

The news was justified a few days later with the club president Uli Hoeness confirming the parting of ways. Having remained unassigned for the rest of the season, Ancelotti took charge over Napoli ahead of the 2018/2019 after Maurizio Sarri departed for Chelsea.

Speaking in an interview with DAZN, the former Juventus, Chelsea, PSG and Real Madrid boss highlighted that the Bayern Munich's decision to let him loose was motivated by the club's reluctance to change their "philosophy".

"The experience at Bayern was a bit unusual," Ancelotti declared. "Things weren't going badly; we'd won almost all of the games in September.

"I think there was more of a philosophy problem: they didn't want to change things. I did.

At Napoli, Ancelotti has hit the ground running winning his first two games of the season against Lazio and AC Milan with an all-new system.

"You always have to take into account what has been done, as well as the level of the players, then of course every Coach has his own ideas," he added.

"You need to try to implement them gradually, without throwing away the good things that were done in the past.

"The most important thing is to consider the characteristics of the players: that's what you model the system on, not vice-versa.

"The first thing I wanted to work on here at Napoli was exactly that: not to take away all that was good about this team.

"We're trying to add a few twists, like how to play more directly and more open. I don't know how long it'll take; we hope to do well quickly."
