The French coach had been linked with a move to Old Trafford, but it seems that Mourinho will keep coaching the Red Devils until the end of the season.

Maybe it's because of his hefty severance paycheck, but Jose Mourinho's future at Manchester United is still unquestionable

Sources close to the team spoke to the BBC about the matter, and Mourinho will not see his spot as Man United's boss in peril. Rumors began after Man Utd's vice-president Ed Woodward was spotted leaving the Red Devils' locker room while running past Jose Mourinho without exchanging his thoughts on Sunday's loss against Brighton.

The report also states that Zinedine Zidane is not the first choice to take over for Mourinho if the team's board decided to sack the Portuguese boss, despite earlier reports linking Zidane to the job if his former mentor was given the boot.

Zidane and Mourinho worked close to each other during the Portuguese boss' time at Real Madrid, with Zizou asking Mou for advice while he coached Real Madrid Castilla. After Mourinho's departure from the Bernabeu, Zidane became Carlo Ancelotti's assistant, in an attempt to get him ready for the big job, which he would eventually take in 2016.

Manchester United has been involved in an inconsistent start of the Premier League season. Their first game ended in a narrow 2-1 win vs Leicester City, while their second match concluded with an embarrassing 3-2 loss against Brighton, which earned the Special One and his men some harsh criticism.
