Reports by the Argentinian press were confirmed today with Lionel Scaloni's call up, which includes some fresh new faces.

All fears by Argentina fans were confirmed today, as Lionel Messi's absence from their national team was confirmed.

Messi's absence is not the only one the team's supporters will have to live with, since other footballers were snubbed by interim coach Lionel Scaloni without any warning.

Players such as Sergio Agüero and Gonzalo Higuaín were also excluded from the team, while Angel Di Maria and Nicolás Otamendi asked to be excluded from the squad. It is yet unclear if they will retire from the National Team.

Added to those names, the retirements of Lucas Biglia and Javier Mascherano, while former goalkeeper Willy Caballero was also snubbed from the team, following his blatant mistakes in the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Coach Scaloni decided to include some fresh new faces such as Walter Kannemann and Giovanni Simeone, the son of Atlético's boss, Diego Simeone. Mauro Icardi and Láutaro Martínez return to the National Team after being snubbed from the World Cup, and Paulo Dybala seems set to become La Albiceleste's leader in the next two games.

Here is Argentina's full squad for their games against Guatemala and Colombia next month.
