Seems that the Italian shot-stopper had a number of reasons to postpone his retirement after ending his 17-year 'romance' with Juventus.

He may not have his No.1 spot secure at PSG, but Gianluigi Buffon has quite a large paycheck to collect during his one-year deal with Les Parisiens.

PSG's owners decided to give Buffon a salary that became a testament of his impressive career, which included a 17-year stay at Juventus. Furthermore, the fact that he arrived on a free transfer gave them a chance to splash cash when talking about his monthly wage.

According to a report by L'Equipe, Buffon's 12-month deal with the current Ligue 1 champions forces Les Parisiens to pay the Italian goalkeeper over five million euros per year, some €410,000 a month (some $480,000). Needless to say, it's one of the highest wages paid to a goalkeeper in all of Europe.

Buffon's deal at PSG could be extended for one more year, but maybe once the season comes to an end, he decides to call it quits for good.
