Both tacticians acknowledged Le Prof's contribution to the Premier League's reputation after 22 years coaching Arsenal.

Even after having severe differences between them throughout the years, Jose Mourinho offered some kind words for his eternal rival, Arsene Wenger.

Hours after Le Prof revealed his decision to leave Arsenal's coaching spot this summer, The Special One stepped up and presented his respects to his bitter rival.

"If he's happy with his decision, and he's eagerly awaiting for the next stage of his life, them I'm happy for him. If he's sad, then I'm sad. I'm positive that Arsenal will show Wenger the respect he deserves," Mourinho stated.

Mourinho and Wenger had their fair share of problems throughout the years.

Mourinho dismissed the idea of being disrespectful towards Wenger, while stating that their problems in the past caused them to develop a respectful relationship

"You can't imagine just how much respect there is between us. There are players that get sent off for being overly aggresive or for cursing, and it's the same with coaches. In the end, there's probably more respect between those who have had problems in the past," Mourinho added.

"I know what it means to win three Premier League titles and seven FA Cups. I know what it means what he accomplished in Japan and in France, and you have to respect all he contributed to Arsenal, even after these past years without winning the league," the coach concluded.

Later, Pep Guardiola referred to Wenger's career, hoping that in the future, he can offer his experience to those who need it.

"I have nothing but respect for Arsene Wenger. The Premier League is what it is thanks to people like him and what he's done for the game," Guardiola stated.
