The Blaugrana side is still keen on the idea, but there are a number of issues that are making them think twice about that option.

The widely expected clash between Girona and Barcelona that was meant to be played in Miami may not take place at all, as Barcelona is having second thoughts on this matter.

According to a document issued by Los Blaugranas front office, the team may not help La Liga's president, Javier Tebas, in his efforts to have a competitive fixture from the Spanish top flight being played abroad.

"The FC Barcelona Board of Directors have agreed to withdraw their disposal to play their game against Girona FC in Miami, after noting a lack of consensus over this proposal," the press release states.

Although the team is keen on making the trip, the club has reserved the right to make any comments on this matter, especially since they had agreed to the idea of sharing the game's box office revenue with the other La Liga clubs, rather than making a profit out of this game.

"FC Barcelona were and remain willing to play a LaLiga game in Miami, and accepted that income from the game would be shared amongst all Primera División and Segunda División clubs, following the same criteria of television rights money distribution, but consider that this project will not prosper until there is an agreement between all parties," the document published on their website adds.

This decision by Los Blaugranas will represent a massive blow to Javier Tebas' intentions of having the game being played in the U.S., especially since the Spanish exec has failed to reach an agreement with both the Spanish Football Federation and with the Spanish Footballers' Union, who were not satisfied with this decision in the first place.
