The Portuguese ace will know the extent of his ban next Thursday, one week before the UEFA Champions League restarts.

Apparently, all the backlash after Cristiano Ronaldo's red card will be useful for the striker, who could walk away with a rather forgiving one-match ban.

The player's straight red urges UEFA to suspend him for at least one game, but given the criticism sparked by this decision, the player may be excused from seeing his ban extended. If UEFA execs decide to hand CR7 a lengthier ban, Juventus would try to have that suspension shortened by filing a protest.

Cristiano Ronaldo would then be available to play for Juventus against Manchester United on October 23, in a game that's scheduled to be played at Old Trafford. Ever since the UEFA Champions League draw took place, fans have expected CR7's return to the Theatre of Dreams, and they may still be able to see the Portuguese striker facing his former club.

The decision will be revealed next week, as UEFA's disciplinary board will meet to hand the proper bans to all players sent off during Matchday 1.
