The French ace was left baffled by the absence of any of his countrymen in the nomination to win FIFA's award.

Most football fans around the world were baffled by FIFA's decision to snub not only Lionel Messi, but all of France's players that won the FIFA World Cup. Two of the most named footballers to be included in that nomination were Antoine Griezmann and Kylian Mbappé, and today, the Atlético Madrid man shared his views on FIFA's award and the upcoming Ballon D'Or nomination.

According to Griezmann's interview with L'Equipe, snubbing French players from the nomination after winning the FIFA World Cup has to be considered a bit strange, to say the least.

"We won the FIFA World Cup and there will be no French players in the podium. We know it's up to everyone to decide who gets the nod, but not having any World Champions included in that list is simply incredible," Griezmann stated.

The French striker went on to analyze how this year could finally see him lifting an individual title, since he helped Los Colchoneros win the Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup, while also having a hand in the aforementioned World Cup win for France.

Comparing this year to 2016, back then I featured in two finals and I didn't win. This year, I've won three trophies in the same amount of finals, I think I deserve to be considered to win the Ballon D'Or. I've won three titles and I've featured in key moments in those tournaments, so naturally I should be there. If I'm not included, I will have to figure out what else I need to do in order to be considered," Griezmann added.

Griezmann concluded the interview by stating this could be the moment for him to win, but he left it up to those who make that call.

"I feel I'm getting closer to win it. But it's not me who casts his vote," Griezmann concluded.
