The 37-year-old striker has pulled the plug on his supposed reunion with the Rossoneri.

AC Milan sporting director Leonardo has confirmed that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will not be re-joining the Italian outfit from the LA Galaxy. The former Swedish international who featured for the San Siro outfit between 2010 and 2012 was reportedly in negotiations with the Serie A club to return in action for the remainder of the 2018/2019 season.

However, the latest development suggests that Ibrahimovic, instead, will commit his future to his Los Angeles-based club after reportedly giving the club his word to do so. The 37-year-old ace was very influential in his first season for the Galaxy, scoring 22 goals in 27 appearances although his side failed to make it to the playoffs phase.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia after AC Milan's 0-0 draw at the San Siro against Torino in the Serie A, Leonardo highlighted what motivated Ibrahimovic to pull the plug on his imminent switch despite negotiations purportedly reaching an advanced stage.

"He gave his word to Galaxy that he would stay if they satisfied his conditions, and they did so.

"It would have been a really lovely story because it would have given a significant weight to the team. We can't deny that both parties thought of it, but it will not be possible."

Momentarily, AC Milan ranks fourth in Serie A. However, the Rossoneri's struggles in front of goal in recent games continue as it has managed just three goals in its last four outings across all competitions.
