Gareth Southgate has expressed his dissatisfaction with his side’s execution despite their 6-1 thumping of Panama.

A hat-trick by Harry Kane, a John Stones brace and a Jesse Lingard strike against Panama on Sunday sealed England’s biggest-ever win in the history of the World Cup. The Three Lions are currently tied at six points apiece with Belgium but top Group G despite having the same goal difference.

Nevertheless, manager of the side Gareth Southgate believes that his men could have done a better job in Sunday’s encounter.

“Well I wasn’t happy with the start of the game or the end,” he said after the game.

“I was pleased with what came in between but there are parts of our game where we still have to get better.

“We had a 35 or 40-minute spell when we played very well. There were a lot of positives of course, and scoring six times in a World Cup match is incredible.

“John Stones scoring twice was one of those, as was Harry’s three goals," Southgated added.

"His hat-trick means he didn’t have the hump when I brought him off!

“It feels very good to be through with a game to spare. It’s a big achievement and we have real belief.”

England will play their final Group G game against Belgium inside the Kaliningrad Stadium on Thursday to decide the winner.
