This is the first of many transfers expected from the Bavarian side, who will undergo a massive overhaul this summer.

Bayern execs are dead-serious in their intentions to re-build their squad, and in order to do that, they have landed the signing of a highly-rated striker. Now, with the last months of the Bundesliga around the corner, Die Roten are not willing to take any chances and have agreed terms with Timo Werner.

With Liverpool and Real Madrid following the player's tracks, the Bavarian side was forced to move quickly to lure the player away from the interest of the EPL and La Liga outfits. Werner is under contract with RB Leipzig until the end of the 2019-20 season, which will force Die Roten Bullen to sell Werner before next January, when he could join Bayern on a free deal.

Werner has turned down several offers to extend his deal with RB Leipzig in the past months, and even named Bayern as his first option if he left the Bulls. With that in mind, club CEO Oliver Mintzlaff urged the player to reveal his transfer plans. Mintzlaff offered Werner an improved deal of over $10M per season, but Werner seems determined to leave the club.

Since Bayern has already agreed terms with the player, the Bavarian side will be forced to negotiate the player's rights with RB Leipzig to speed things up.

Bayern is expected to experience a massive overhaul this summer, with players such as Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben deemed surplus to the team's requirements. Robert Lewandowski is still expected to lead the club right along with Werner, but others such as James Rodríguez, Rafinha or even Mats Hummels could be shown the exit door once the season concludes.

Werner is the team's second-best striker in RB Leipzig's history, with 55 goals to his name. He has also played 23 games for the German National Team, having scored nine goals.

Bayern is three points behind Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga's title race. Die Roten have won six league titles in a row, but their historic run has been threatened by the yellow-and-black side due to a slow start of the season.
