The ride has been smooth for both clubs although one will be halted on Monday night.

The die has been cast and all is almost set for last season's FA Cup finalists to lock horns once more at a rather earlier stage of the competition.

For Manchester United, the test simply presents the right opportunity to avenge last year's final defeat and also the platform for the club to eliminate the Blues from a domestic cup competition for the first time since 2002.

Evidently, both clubs have ticked all the boxes in their quest thus far. Having secured an automatic progression from Round Two of the FA Cup, Chelsea began its campaign with a Third Round victory over Nottingham Forest as a result of an Alvaro Morata brace. The Blues subsequently added a Fourth Round victory over Sheffield Wednesday via a 3:0 scoreline.

In a similar fashion, Manchester United saw off Reading in the second round with a 2:0 win and added defeated Arsenal 3-1 at the Emirates to set-up Monday's clash with Chelsea.

Five major key points to note ahead of the FA Cup Last 16 encounter

1. Milestone of five consecutive FA Cup wins

On Monday, Chelsea could become the first club in history to eliminate Manchester United in five successive FA Cup encounters. The Blues and the Mancunians will be meeting in the competition for the fifth time in the last six years, including replays.

Three of the fixtures ended 1-0 in favor of Chelsea while the remaining one was a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford in 2013.

2. Prolonged Stamford Bridge hoodoo

Manchester United has won just two of their last 22 away games against Chelsea in all competitions. The Red Devils have failed to win any of their last nine, registering two draws and seven defeats.

Manchester United's last win over Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge dates back to 2012. The infamous dramatic encounter which ended 3-2 in favor of the Old Trafford outfit saw Fernando Torres being sent off and Javier Hernandez scoring the match-winner from an offside position.

3. Away scoring streak

For the first time-ever, Manchester United has scored in its first 18 away games of a season across all competitions.

The Red Devils have registered a total of 36 goals in those matches and, interestingly, almost 42% of the goals coming in six away games under the club's new interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

4. Mr. FA Cup

Ex-Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has scored 13 goals in his last 15 FA Cup appearances. However, the 25-year-old Belgian has scored once in two appearances this season.

5. Giant slayers

Manchester United has eliminated previous FA Cup winners on 10 occasions - more than any side has managed in the competition's history. The last time the Red Devils did so was in 2011-12 against Manchester City.
