Sergio Ramos' big mouth could get him in big trouble with UEFA.

The Spanish player had a great game against Ajax in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 between the Dutch side and Los Blancos, but he was not able to avoid being booked by referee Damir Skomina...or was he?

A post-match interview with a Spanish TV show revealed that Ramos got booked on purpose, so he had a clean slate for the remainder of the UEFA Champions League. Those words did not go unnoticed by UEFA execs, who are already investigating the incident and could slap Ramos with a lengthier ban.

Journalist: "Just so we're clear: did you get booked on purpose?"

Sergio Ramos: "Well, yes. Watching the score, I'd lie if I told you otherwise. It was something I had on the back of my head, and that does not mean that we are underestimating our rival or that we are already through, but sometimes in football you have to make some tough calls and I decided that was the way to go. I will miss the second leg, and hopefully the team will make things happen without me on the pitch. I will be cheering for them from the stands and if everything goes well, I will enjoy one more UEFA Champions League Quarter final stage."

The usual sanction for a player that gets booked twice in the continental tournament is one game, but just a couple of weeks ago, Porto's winger Jesús Corona was handed a two-match ban for allegedly getting booked on purpose during the group stage. Will Ramos be handed a similar ban?
