The Special One had landed himself quite a lucrative deal with the Red Devils, but his final paycheck was quite impressive.

Jose Mourinho's era at Manchester United is over, but fans will remember it to be one of the most expensive in team history.

The Portuguese boss was fired back in December 2018 after a number of disappointing results, which were capped by a 3-1 loss against Liverpool in his final match. The amount paid by the Red Devils to part ways with Mourinho was the subject of speculation, but now, the real amount has been revealed in the team's second-quarter financial results.

According to the document, Manchester United execs had to pay over $25M to Mourinho and the five members of his staff in order to part ways. The amount is included in the "exceptional items" portion of the report, which also reveals that the Red Devils enjoy financial prosperity, since they reported a revenue of over $266M during the same term.

Mourinho's severance check will also be remembered by Manchester United execs when they hire a new coach. The amount paid to The Special One was four times the amount they paid to let go both of the Portuguese coach's predecessors: David Moyes and Louis Van Gaal.

Even so, chief exec Ed Woodward praised the team's form since Ole Gunnar Solksjaer's appointment as caretaker until the end of the season.

"We are delighted with the improvement in the team's performances since December and we look forward to a strong finish to the 18/19 season," Woodward said in a brief statement.
