Hosts Manchester City have now moved back in control of the table as Liverpool have started to wobble, but with the Reds picking up all three points against Bournemouth, Pep Guardiola's side will be determined to pick up all three points here to re-claim top spot. It looks like the title race is going to be a close one between Jurgen Klopp's men and the reigning champions, and City certainly have not forgetten about Tottenham, who, despite being five points back, still are hoping to make a late push in the battle for the coveted league title.
Chelsea, for their part, rebounded from their embarrassing 4-0 defeat to Bournemouth by thrashing Huddersfield 5-0 last weekend. Despite this, the Blues have now slipped out of the top four, and will be looking to regain some ground on the Champions League places with a win at the Etihad this Sunday. This will be the third meeting this season between Maurizio Sarri's side and last season's champions; the first was in the Community Shield, during which Pep Guardiola's men won 2-0. The second was the most notable as Sarri's team beat the Citizens 2-0 at Stamford Bridge in December and became the first side in the Premier League to defeat City domestically this season.
However, Chelsea have lost their last three away games across all competitions, with defeats to Tottenham, Arsenal, and Bournemouth since 2019 started. Furthermore, the Blues have won just two of their last nine visits to the Etihad, losing six times, and their last win at this ground was in December 2016. That being said, doing a double in the league over the Citizens would obviously do wonders for the team's confidence and alleviate some of the pressure that certainly is growing on Sarri.
