The German coach has his sight set on taking charge of Los Blancos should he return to club management.

Head coach of the German national team Joachim Low has expressed interest in managing Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid in the near future. Having won the World Cup with Die Mannschaft back in 2014, the 58-year-old manager has endured a difficult spell in recent years.

Under his supervision, Germany was dealt a shock elimination at the 2018 FIFA World Cup which was held in Russia. Despite featuring in a group alongside Mexico, Sweden, and South Korea, the four-time world champions could not progress to the knockout phase.

His plight in national team management has since been topped by Germany being relegated from the UEFA Nations League A. This follows a series of poor results against France and the Netherlands in Group 1 of the competition.

Amid the odd happenings surrounding his side, Low has trifled with the prospect of managing Real Madrid after current head coach Santiago Solari exhausts his tenure. Los Blancos who seem to have found their feet in recent months had to resort to hiring the former Real Madrid Castilla manager following a poor start to the season under Julen Lopetegui.

Having lost just once in eight games under the new management, the current European champions sit in fifth place in La Liga.  And while this still remains a below-par dwelling for a club the size of Real Madrid, there have been speculations that the Merengues may, once again, consider changing their manager at the end of the season.

"I was a club manager for several years and I am still not thinking about retirement," Joachim Low reportedly told German television network ZDF.

"It's also clear that the majority of my time as national team coach has already passed, so the moment will arrive when I have to think about what to do after.

"For me, I am still interested in coaching a club. I think it would be abroad, not in Germany.

"Real Madrid is an interesting club for any manager."
