The Brazilian legend added two more names to the mix, hinting that he also believes them to be better than 'La Pulga'

Usually, Pelé tries to keep himself away from controversy, but his recent statements about Lionel Messi and Diego Maradona will surely make waves.

Speaking in an interview with Folha de Sao Paulo, "O Rei" shared his views on who should be considered as the best Argentine player in history, and there seems to be no doubt in his mind: Diego Maradona should be named as the best player from that nation.

"To me, Maradona was one of the best players of all time. You're going to ask me if I believe him to be better than Messi, and yes, he was. He was way better," Pelé said.

The Brazilian legend even added the late Johan Cruyff and Franz Beckenbauer as players that should be considered above Barcelona's all-time top scorer.

"There was also Beckenbauer, Cruyff. They were massive players as well," "O Rei" added.

The 3-time World Cup winner also spoke about Neymar, a player that has the talent to become one of the best, but does not help himself with his antics on and off the pitch.

"It's hard to stand up and defend Neymar, especially for all the things he does away from the pitch. We had a conversation in Europe, and I told him that God gave him the skills to succeed, but what he does (diving) ends up complicating things," Pelé added.
