The Uruguayan has hit out at the media for fabricating things about his relationship with the Brazilian.

Rumors of a rift between Edinson Cavani and Neymar have been around for a long time. However, the Uruguayan attacker has moved to squash those speculations, blasting the media for "creating something out of nothing".

The first sign that the pair did not see eye to eye came early on in the Brazilian's PSG career. A quarrel over who should take penalties left everyone believing that the South American duo did not get along.

The issue of their rift was rehashed when the two clashed in a friendly between their respective nations. Cavani was involved in an argument with the world's most expensive player over a challenge on the former Barcelona ace which earned the 31-year-old a booking.

When this topic was brought up after Uruguay's loss to France in an international friendly, Edinson was quick to clarify things. "Neymar? You need to stop this," Cavani told reporters, as per Goal.

It's you the media that are creating something from nothing.

"On the outside, everybody has his own life. On the inside, everyone works for the best interests of the club."

And there we have it. While the two might not be the best of pals, the Uruguayan insists that there is harmony.

Edinson also opened up about the recent injury to PSG team-mate Kylian Mbappe. The World Cup winner left the pitch in Tuesday's 1-0 win, with the former Napoli goalscoring machine wishing a speedy recovery for the teenage starlet.

"Mbappe? I don't know. I hope it's not serious," Cavani added. "We will need everyone to carry on."
