The Colombian ace's situation at Bayern has changed in months, mainly due to his poor relationship with under-fire boss Niko Kovac.

Things have taken a 180° turn in James Rodríguez's situation in a matter of months. The Colombian midfielder seemed to be the foundation where Bayern München would start its re-building process, but apparently Bayern's execs have changed their minds and will let the player return to Real Madrid.

According to a report by Kicker, the team will not pay the buyout clause established by Real Madrid almost 18 months ago, when both parties agreed to see Rodriguez joining the Bavarians on a two-year loan deal. The German team seemed set to pay the player's $48M clause to sign him on a permanent basis, but given Rodríguez's disciplinary problems under Niko Kovac, there has been a change of mind at Bayern's front office.

Rodríguez and Kovac have allegedly entered into numerous arguments since the Croatian's appointment as Bayern's boss last summer.

Kovac's future at the helm is uncertain at this point, but if he can retain his spot as Bayern's coach, his first order of business will be to offload the Colombian.

Added to James' disciplinary breaches, the Colombian came down with a knee injury this week, which will complicate his chances of making an impression even further.

If the player doesn't end up at Real Madrid, where he is still considered as a top-caliber player, there are some Premier League teams that would be interested in the player's signing. One thing's for certain, according to this info: the player will not extend his stay in the Bundesliga beyond June 2019.
