The Juventus forward had his say on the rape allegations against him.

Cristiano Ronaldo was out to clear the air on the alleged sexual assault allegation against him ahead of Juventus' Champions League clash with Manchester United on Tuesday. The 33-year-old Portuguese forward has seen his shock move this summer obscured by the news of purportedly raping an American woman identified as Kathryn Mayorga.

According to the said victim's testimony in German newspaper Der Spiegel, the incident happened in a hotel room in Las Vegas back in June 2009. With the legal parties of both Mayorga and Ronaldo going back and forth with revelations and rebuttals in recent times, the case is believed to have been reopened for further probing by the Las Vegas police.

The Portuguese ace's club Juventus, in an attempt to reinforce solidarity, faced a massive backlash from the fans and stakeholders alike for releasing a statement in support of the player. Amid the development, the biggest footwear endorser of the 33-year-old ex-Manchester United star also highlighted that it was "deeply concerned" about the allegations.

Ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo's Old Trafford homecoming, he finally spoke on the situation at hand at the pre-match press conference.

"I know I am an example, 100%. In the pitch and outside the pitch," the former Red Devil declared.

"I am a happy man, I smile, I play in a fantastic club, I have four kids, I am healthy, the rest doesn't interfere on me so I am very glad. I am a happy man.

"We have done a statement two weeks ago and I am glad," Ronaldo added.

"Of course I am not going to lie in this situation, my lawyers are confident and I am too.

"The most important is I enjoy the football, I enjoy my life. The rest, I have people who take care of my life.

"Of course, the truth is always coming in the first position [eventually]. So, I'm good."

On the subject of his return to his former stomping grounds, Ronaldo added: "It is emotional for me. I can remember I won lots here. Cups and leagues.

"The support was fantastic and my best possible wishes to Sir Alex Ferguson. He gave me a huge lift in my career."
