What has been Mexico's and Costa Rica's form ahead of this game?

Mexico does not get to this game on their best shape. After winning their games against Germany and South Korea in the World Cup, El Tri has collected nothing but losses, including their 3-0 defeat against Sweden, their WC elimination match against Brazil, a 4-1 loss against Uruguay and a one-nil loss against thr USMNT.

Costa Rica's situation is not even close to being better, since Los Ticos have lost six of their most recent seven games. Their 2-2 draw against Switzerland during the World Cup is the only game in which they haven't walked away with a loss. England, Belgium, Serbia, Brazil, South Korea and Japan have tasted victory at their expense during the build-up to the World Cup, during the competition and after they returned home empty-handed.

Mexico took home all the points in their most recent match against Costa Rica to be held over Mexican soil. It was a 2-0 win in the 2018 FIFA WCQ last year.

His PK streak without a miss may be over, but now's the time to prove his worth with El Tri, especially now that Javier "Chicharito" Hernández decided to take a leave of absence from El Tri. Will this be the moment for Jiménez to claim the regular starting spot as Mexico's No. 9?

Keylor Navas - What is left to be said about the Costa Rican goalie? Named by many as the best shot-stopper in CONCACAF, Navas returns to his National Team to begin a new era. Their newly-appointed noss will not be on the bench, which makes Navas' presence even more relevant, since the team will need his experience to try and get away from Mexico on a high note.
