No Cristiano, no problem for Juventus, who are still the heavy favourites against debutants Young Boys on matchday two in the Champions League.

Match Preview

After beating Napoli 3-1, Juventus will look to keep up their perfect run this season as they welcome debutants Young Boys to the Allianz Stadium on Tuesday evening. Massimiliano Allegri's men have won all seven of their Serie A games this season, plus their first Champions League fixture against Valencia and thus could make it nine wins out of nine games across all competitions should they, as expected, defeat the minnows on matchday two.

The hosts will have to make do without star man Cristiano Ronaldo, who was controversially sent off during the tie against Valencia. Nonetheless, a brace from Miralem Pjanic from the spot was enough to see off the Spanish outfit and keep La Vecchia Signora joint-tied on top of their quartet, alongside Manchester United. And fortunately for the Italian giants, they will have Ronaldo back for their crunch clash against the Red Devils in a few weeks' time. With others like Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic in their ranks though, they should have no problems picking up all three points here.

Allegri could opt to give Mattia Perin a start in goal as he tinkers with his squad, whilst Sami Khedira and Douglas Costa are two other absentees for the hosts.

Match Facts and Stats

  • Juventus have lost just twice in their last 33 games in European competition at the Allianz Stadium (W19 D12)
  • Real Madrid's 2-0 win last season snapped a long-standing run that had extended back to April 2013, when the Bianconeri were beaten by Bayern Munich
  • Ironically, two players who were part of those teams - Cristiano Ronaldo and Mario Mandzukic - now both play for Juventus
  • The Bianconeri have won both previous home games against Swiss visitors without conceding a goal
  • Young Boys have won only two of their last 11 European games (D4 L5)
  • By beating Croatian outfit Dynamo Zagreb in the play-offs, the Swiss side ended a 13-match streak without a European away win (D4 L9)
