The Welshman is into his final year of his contract at the Emirates Stadium, with the Gunners working hard to avoid losing him for nothing.

Arsenal fans have received worrying news ahead of their clash with Newcastle, and it has to do with influential midfielder Aaron Ramsey. According to the Sun, talks to tie down the Welshman with a contract extension have stalled once more as his deal nears expiration.

With the former Cardiff starlet's deal coming to an end next summer, he could sign a pre-contract with another club as early as January unless things are finalized. If the Sun's recent claim is anything to go by, this debacle might take a while to be sorted out.

The British tabloid writes that the Gunners had agreed a $327,000-per-week £250,000-a-week) deal with the player and were thus confident of wrapping things up last week. However, the saga involving Ivan Gazidis has derailed things.

The Arsenal chief executive has heavily been linked with a switch to AC Milan, with the Emirates Stadium official failing to publicly dismiss those rumors. As a result, members at the club feel that the mystery surrounding Gazidis' future is threatening the Ramsey deal.

Ivan will be needed to sign off on the final details for the Welshman to officially sign an extension, which could be a huge reason why things have slowed down. Furthermore, it has been speculated that Gazidis might try to lure Ramsey to the San Siro should he join the AC Milan hierarchy.

All of this could make for bad news for Unai Emery's side. The 27-year-old ace is currently Arsenal's longest-serving player and has been key to their FA Cup success in recent years.

While Saturday's trip to St. James' Park will be Emery's immediate concern, he will definitely have one eye on the Ramsey issue. As for the fans, they will be praying not to see another key player walk out the door.  The belief is that the midfielder plans on staying, but only time will tell whether he will stay loyal to that.
