The Portuguese ace is yet to score his first goal with his new team, and he chose not to join Portugal's squad during this break to accomplish that goal.

Cristiano Ronaldo's transfer to Juventus keeps making waves, but in reality, it was easier to accomplish than some fans might think.

In an interview with Czech media outlet IdnesTV, former Juventus ace and current vicepresident Pavel Nedved revealed how the Old Lady plotted CR7's signing, and how things turned out just fine for the bianconeri right from the start.

"It all began in the mind of our Sporting Director (Fabio Paratici). We had a meeting at his home, and he came up with the idea of trying to sign him. He pitched it to me and Andrea Agnelli (Juve's president), and we decided to go for it," Nedved stated.

"The moment when we realized we could pull this off was when we looked at his buyout clause ($139M). It wasn't madness to try and eventually, we knew we were doing the right thing," Nedved revealed.

Nedved admitted that CR7's signing was intended to boost the team's chances of winning the UEFA Champions League title.

"He was the signing we needed to go a step further in our attempts to win the UEFA Champions League. That will be our main goal after winning seven Serie A titles in a row," Nedved added.
