The Holland international is close to joining the Ligue 1 outfit.

Olympique Marseille is on the verge of signing AS Roma's Kevin Strootman after making headway in negotiations. The 2018 Europa League finalists have had a €25 million bid plus add-ons accepted by the Giallorossi as per Sky Sports' Gianluca Di Marzio.

As a result, Strootman – who has already agreed to personal terms with the French outfit – is expected to complete his medical in the coming days in order to finalizes the move. The 28-year-old will eventually bring to an end a five-year spell at Roma, having made 137 appearances and scoring 13 goals in the process.

Back in 2015, Strootman was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United where he would have played under Louis Van Gaal. However, an anterior cruciate ligament injury subsequently ruled the midfielder out of action for the majority of the 2015/2016 season, forcing him to end the campaign with just five appearances to his name.

Kevin Strootman joins Duje Calta-Car and Jordan Amavi as the latest recruitment for Marseille with manager Rudi Garcia looking better his side's 4th-place finish last season.
