Now that was unexpected…

After a lengthy lay-off from football with injury and switching clubs, Zlatan Ibrahimovic seems to be back in his sparkling best. The Swedish forward, since joining LA Galaxy from Manchester United has netted three goals in three games – including a potential Puskas award contender – to emphasize his renaissance.

Taking his form into consideration, recent rumors suggested that Ibrahimovic might come out of retirement and feature for Sweden in the upcoming World Cup. The 36-year-old forward made his decision to move away from international football after the EURO 2016 and his country seems to have done well in his absence as they secured World Cup qualification without his direct involvement.

Upon sealing their World Cup berth manager of the Swedes, categorically debunked suggestions of his former captain joining the side for Russia 2018 when queried on the subject. However, a recent tweet by the rejuvenated Ibrahimovic hints at him coming back to join his national team.

This has, as a result, invoked an angry reaction by some fans who have tagged the LA Galaxy striker as an opportunist. Check out some of the tweets below:
