The Dutch defender will leave Southampton to become the Reds' new centerback on January 1 after handing in a transfer request last summer.

At long last, Liverpool and Virgil Van Dijk will join paths, as the Dutch defender will finally leave Southampton to join a top-caliber team.

The Reds won the race to sign the Dutch centerback by paying Southampton £75million (some $100 million dollars), making him the most expensive defender in football history. That record was owned by Manchester City for just six months, after they paid €60 million to sign Kyle Walker.

The Dutch footballer has already posed with what will be his new jersey.

According to the team's website, Van Dijk wil wear the No. 4 jersey with the Reds.
