Ernesto Valverde could make his first marquee signing as Blaugrana boss, but the Catalan giants will have to break the bank,

Barca, who look to strengthen their squad after losing La Liga to Real Madrid, have been handed a huge boost in the transfer window. According to Sport, one of their main targets has agreed to a move.

That man is none other than Marco Verratti. The PSG midfielder has long been linked with a Camp Nou move, but only now has he reportedly given the Blaugrana the green light. With Arda Turan and Andre Gomes linked with exits, the Italian would be a much needed upgrade.

One issue remains a huge roadblock for the Catalan giants: agreeing a fee with PSG. The Ligue 1 giants are also in the hunt to regain the league crown and will thus demand a huge fee for the 24-year-old.

Verratti is under contract until 2021. As a result, PSG will demand 100 million euros for the midfielder.

Marco Verratti, Barcelona, PSG, La Liga

Barca will put in an official offer for Verratti soon, but it remains unknown whether they will match Les Parisiens asking price. The Spanish newspaper claims that the player is determined to force a move and will thus pressure his employers into accepting a deal.

Verratti has already informed PSG of his desire to leave. If his Barca move goes through, it could be Ernesto Valverde’s first signing as Blaugrana boss.
