The Juventus star will now miss the Champions League quarter-finals and semi-finals, should his team progress.

Things have gone from bad to worse for Juventus. Despite having won in the league against Empoli without Cristiano, the Italian giant will have to cope without his services for quite a bit longer than expected.

The Portuguese superstar picked up a muscular injury during the recent international break and while the player was hopeful of being back before mid-April, that is now impossible. First Allegri admitted that the five-time Ballon d'Or winner might not be fit for the Champions League trip to Ajax, now his layoff has increased after suffering a setback.

The 34-year-old aggravated his injury during a physiotherapy session tailored to have him back on the field as soon as possible. Cristiano will thus remain on the sidelines for two months.

As a result, he would only return in time for the Champions League final should the Bianconeri make it all the way. This will be a huge blow for Allegri as this could spell the end of his dream of winning the prestigious European title.

The Old Lady was on the brink of a round of 16 exit, but Ronaldo -- surprise, surprise -- came to their rescue, scoring a hat-trick to seal a comeback. Without the five-time Champions League winner, Juventus might struggle to get past Ajax, let alone Man City or Tottenham, depending on which side makes it through.

The Serie A champion boasts a 15-point lead in the Italian top-flight but second-placed Napoli might fancy their odds of overturning that lead now that the title holder is without their top-scorer. Should this happen, it would be a disaster for the club.

Are you finding this hard to believe? How did Juventus' amazing season quickly turn into a nightmare just overnight? Worry not, as none of this is true! Ronaldo won't be out for two months. April Fool!
