Icardi spoke to Sky Italia after the epic encounter and was elated with his side's performance. The 25-year-old forward, who is reportedly on the radar of Real Madrid, subsequently took his tally for the season to six in 11 appearances across all competitions.
"It was a derby and we won it, deservedly," the Argentine declared.
"We had a lot of opportunities, a goal that was disallowed for offside and a ball that hit the woodwork and many other chances.
"We deserved to win and the way we won it makes the win taste even better. Before going away for the international break I said that we have to win this game and today we just had to do in front of this incredible crowd at San Siro.
"For us right now, all we have to do is to just continue on this path.
"Our goal right now is to have continuity, then at the end of the season, we will evaluate everything.
"We are aware of our potential, we are a strong team and we can play against any team."
