The Portuguese forward is on the brink of missing out on a return to Manchester United after being sent-off in Juventus' Champions League group stage opener.

Cristiano Ronaldo's debut for Juventus in the Champions League ended abruptly after he was given his marching orders inside the first-half. The Portuguese forward, following his record move to the Turin outfit was involved in action at the Mestalla against Valencia.

An off the ball incident involving Ronaldo and Jeison Murillo on the edge of the penalty area, however, resulted in the former being shown the red card by referee Felix Brych inside the 29th minute. The all-time UEFA Champions League top scorer appeared to be in tears as he made way for the dugout with the red card being the first he had ever received in the Champions League.

While there could be a possible appeal by Juventus for the incident to be review, Cristiano Ronaldo is momentarily on the verge of being sidelined when his team travels to Old Trafford to take on his former club Manchester United. The Red Devils and the Old Ladies are scheduled to feature in Group H's Matchday 3 encounter on October 23.
