Atlético's coach believed that some of his players deserved to be included in each category's short list.

Atlético Madrid players had quite a season, and being snubbed from FIFA's The Best gala didn't go down well among them.

Coach Diego Simeone felt the same way, and he chose to make his voice heard on the matter during a promotional event.

According to "El Cholo", Antoine Griezmann's snub from FIFA's awards was quite unfair, as he saw his pupil as the best player in the 2017-18 season.

"Griezmann without doubt has been the best player in the world within the last year, there is no doubt about this," Simeone said.

But the biggest omission from the awards' short list was that of Jan Oblak, the goalkeeper that allowed the least amount of goals in Europe's Top 5 leagues.

"Jan Oblak? He is the world's best goalkeeper and to say he is not in the top three is ridiculous, it strips these awards of credibility," the coach added.

Then, Simeone aimed a small dig at former Atlético goalie Thibaut Courtois, who is still contending for the Best Goalkeeper award.

"Would Thibaut Courtois get in our team now? Oblak is better," Simeone said.

The ceremony is set to take place on September 24, 2018 in London. Despite their impressive season, all of Atlético's footballers were snubbed from the gala.
