Sportklub 9 History, Coverage, Features

SportKlub is a pay-tv sports channel owned and operated by The United Group. The channel was launched in former Yugoslavian countries such as Croatia, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Slovenia, and Serbia on January 2, 2006, quickly becoming one of the most-watched channels in those nations and particularly in Serbian television.
Over the years, SportKlub has aired a wide variety of disciplines, which have included football, basketball, tennis, motorsports, American football, ice hockey, volleyball, handball, athletics, golf, and more. The network has been forced to add more channels to its offer in order to cover its wide variety of broadcasting rights.
Speaking about football, SportKlub 9 has been frequently used as an overflow channel when three or more live sports events are being aired at the same time. The channel has been used mostly during the weekends, leaving promotional videos to be aired during the rest of the week. The channel has covered domestic leagues such as the English Premier League, the German Bundesliga, the Russian Premier League, the Eredivisie, the Turkish Super Lig, the Ukrainian Premier League, the Austrian Bundesliga, the Greek Super League, the Danish Superliga, the Swedish Allsvenskan, the Japanese J1 League, the Serbian Football Championship, and other lower-tier European. Cup tournaments have also found airtime on SportKlub 9 throughout the years, with competitions such as the FA Cup, the Turkish Cup, the DFL Super Cup, the FA Community Shield, and the Ukrainian Cup being some of those aired on SportKlub 9.
National team football has also been available on SportKlub 9, with the UEFA Nations League, the UEFA WC Qualifiers, and the Asian World Cup Qualifiers all being available to be watched live on this channel.
SportKlub 9 was launched as a Standard Definition channel, and given its status as an overflow channel, its parent company has chosen to put plans to launch a HD feed on hold. The channel may also be available in countries such as Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Slovenia, although their programming might be slightly different than the one aired in Serbia.
