Eurosport 2 Greece History, Coverage, Features
Eurosport 2 Greece is part of the pan-European television network of channels owned and operated by Discovery, Inc. It was launched on January 10, 2005 as a complementary channel to Eurosport. The network saw the light on February 5, 1989 but suffered a brief closure period of one month in May 1991. Eventually, Eurosport would grow into one of the most watched sports channels in Europe due to its large number of broadcasting rights covering a wide range of sports.
Eurosport 2 is known for owning a wide variety of sports that are not aired by other specialized sports channels. Such disciplines have included “alternative” sports such as lacrosse, cricket, surfing, handball, Australian rules football, and others. Broadcasting these sports has led Eurosport 2 to name itself as a “new generation sports channel” for quite some time. While most feeds for Eurosport 2 are the same across Europe, not all the broadcasting rights owned by the company are available in all territories. The Greek version of Eurosport 2 has focused on airing golf tournaments, tennis competitions, motorsports events, cycling competitions, and has also been used to broadcast massive events such as the Olympic Games.
This channel is only available as a pay-tv channel on select cable and satellite carriers in the country. The channel was launched on a Standard Definition format, but a High-Definition feed is now available. A downscaled version of the HD feed may be available for users who have not been able to switch to HD technology.
The published listings of live, re-aired, and on-demand match and program events published on this website are broadcast by the official rights holders. They are available on various platforms such as terrestrial TV, radio, cable, satellite, IPTV, mobile and desktop apps. Where possible, we will provide links to the streaming events available on the platforms provided by the official broadcasters. Please note that in many cases, a digital subscription or user authentication with a TV or internet provider will be required. We endeavor to provide as accurate and detailed broadcast information as possible. However, broadcast schedules are subject to change at any time.
