David de Gea remains one of the most discussed players in the transfer market. The reason is despite his spectacular season at Man United, he is constantly being linked with a move to Real Madrid.
Los Blancos came achingly close to landing him in 2015 but missed out on the Spaniard. Since then, his English employers have stated on several occasions that he is not for sale and even tied him down with a new contract. Nonetheless, the Madrid club still sees him as the perfect upgrade on Keylor Navas.
Speaking ahead of their Champions League clash with Sevilla, Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho issued a warning to the reigning European champion. He cautioned Zidane and Co. to not waste their time on De Gea and advised them to look elsewhere in their search for a new custodian.
Speaking to La Sexta (as per Marca), the Special One said: “I think he will stay.
"I don't know what Real Madrid's intentions are, but if I were them, I would think of another player."
The 27-year-old has been instrumental to Man United this season. His quick reflex has bailed the Premier League outfit several times, as seen in the first-leg meeting with Sevilla.
The Spaniard made a number of fine saves to keep the game 0-0, handing Mourinho’s side the advantage ahead of the return leg. Man United now needs only to win by a single goal to advance to the quarter-final.
