“Mr. Champions League” strikes again!

After a subtly sedentary first half, Cristiano Ronaldo showed up yet again to emphasize why he’s currently the best goal scorer in the Champions League’s history. A move started on the left-flank was finished off by the 32-year-old forward following a build-up involving a delightful through pass by Marco Asensio and an inch-perfect cross by Lucas Vasquez.

The headed goal – his 12th of this season's campaign – ensured that he matched Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s all-time record of the longest scoring streak in the history of the Champions League. Both players are now tied at nine games apiece with Ronaldo boasting of 14 goals and his former Man United teammate having 12.

Subsequently, the Real Madrid forward took his away goal tally in the European competition to 53, making him the player with the most in the history of the tournament.
