Alexis Sanchez’s Arsenal career has reached its final chapter. The excitement that surrounded his Emirates Stadium arrival is all but gone, with the player deciding to jump ships in favor of a move to Man United.
But can the Chilean be blamed for wanting out? Not only will the 29-year-old be joining a Champions League which sits 11 points ahead of the Gunner, but the South American star will also earn tons more in wages.
According to the Daily Mail, Sanchez will pocket roughly $484,928 (£350,000) per week under his four-and-a-half-year deal. He will also make an additional $138,551 (£100,000) weekly for image rights throughout the duration of his contract.
Furthermore, $10.4m (£7.5m) will be wired to the Chilean’s account every year throughout the four years as part of his singing-on fee. Mourinho’s side is willing to spend all of that on the Arsenal player, and that does not even include the transfer fee.
The transfer fee to bring Alexis from north London will be a total of $48.5m. Only $27.7m of that money will go to Arsenal, with the player’s agent Fernando Felicevich earning the remaining $20.8m.
It was initially thought that Sanchez might be included in the squad for the clash with Crystal Palace due to Welbeck’s injury. However, that hope has been dashed away as the attacker bid farewell to his team-mates and the staff on Friday night after a breakthrough in his transfer occurred.
