Liverpool's decision to secure the service of Naby Keita is seemingly paying off after the midfielder showed plausible indications of his expertise in the club's last two pre-season friendlies. The 23-year-old Guinean featured in games against Chester and Tranmere Rovers and earned approvals for his spectacular run-off in both wins.
One of Keita's biggest fanatics is the man who gave Liverpool the greenlight to trigger his £48 million release clause set by RB Leipzig last summer – Jurgen Klopp. According to Liverpool Echo, the Red's manager's decision to sanction the move was for the reason that he perceived him to be the best player in the Bundesliga.
"Naby was two years ago, together with maybe Thiago Alcantara of Bayern, for sure the best player in the Bundesliga by far," Klopp was quoted to have said.
"It was unbelievable how he played and then we wanted to get him in, but Leipzig didn't think that was the best idea in the world so they kept him.
"And then last season he was still good. Not as good as the year before but still good.
"He is young, he is full of football skills, very stable, very good in small spaces, endurance-wise fantastic, quick, good finishes, good runs in the box.
"So that's a package that's really interesting and that's why we thought we should take him."
