Liverpool's night went from bad to worse after losing Mohamed Salah and subsequently causing Karim Benzema the easiest goal any player could have scored in a Champions League final. The Reds were placed in a position of momentary discomfort after a goalkeeping howler gifted Karim Benzema Real Madrid’s opener in the final.
The German goalkeeper caught a loose ball following an unsuccessful attack by Real Madrid. The Liverpool No. 1 however, following a slight pressure from Benzema ended up throwing the ball against the Frenchman’s outstretched leg. He was fortuitously redeemed by Sadio Mane’s strike moment later which brought the game to level pegging.
