The Dutchman identified what his Bayern Munich side must do to overcome Los Blancos.

One of the most highly-anticipated games in football this season is the clash between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final. Two favorites to win the title, they will reignite their rivalry once more when they meet in the last four.

This encounter is made all the more interesting due to what happened in their run-in last year. The German and Spanish giants battled it out in last season’s quarter-final, with Los Blancos going through via a controversial 6-3 aggregate win.

Speaking ahead of their rematch, Arjen Robben highlighted one key issue which resulted in their elimination. The Dutchman did not focus on Arturo Vidal’s unfair sending off or Cristiano’s offside goals.

Instead, what the winger pinpointed as the Bavarians downfall was their disappointing display at home. Similar to this tie, the Bundesliga champion hosted Zidane’s side in the first leg but lost 2-1 at the Allianz Arena.

And with that, Robben issued his former club a warning ahead of their showdown: expect Bayern Munich to be in full force in the first leg. The Dutchman said, as per France 24:

"Last year we did not do well in the home game and played with a bit of fear. That should not happen on Wednesday. We'll be ready. They can also be vulnerable and we can go into the game with our heads high.”

With Jupp Heynckes now at the helm of the club, he will be keen on securing another treble with the German giant. First, though, they must overcome a Real Madrid side that is gunning for a third straight European title.
