Following respective wins over the weekend, the two clubs have set up a final showdown at Wembley.

Manchester United came back from a goal behind to secure victory over Spurs thanks to goals by Alexis Sanchez and Ander Herrera. Relatively, a goal each by Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata ensured a 2-0 win for Chelsea over Southampton.

The final match between the two English clubs is scheduled for May 19 and expectations are high for both clubs who aim to end their respective seasons with a silverware. Nevertheless, the Red Devils and the Blues have been in this position before as the upcoming blockbuster is merely a carbon copy of the FA Cup final back in 2007.

In that particular encounter, Chelsea claimed the win after a hard-fought battle with Sir Alex Ferguson’s side via Didier Drogba’s late extra-time goal. The Ivorian scooped the ball past Manchester United’s Edwin van der Sar in the 116th minute in the crunchy encounter which seemed destined for penalties in front of Wembley’s 90,000 crowd.

The agonizing defeat suffered by Manchester United subsequently ended the club’s hopes of becoming the only English club to win the double four times, having previously won it in 1994, 1996 and 1999.  Interestingly, the man responsible for Chelsea’s abrupt halt of this record was no other than Jose Mourinho and by fate's own way, the Portuguese manager will be in the driving seat for the Red Devils when the Blues come to town.

A deja vu beckoning or nah? Time will certainly have the final say in this one!
