The Spaniard scored the German side’s 100th goal of the season against Besiktas in Turkey.

With five goals from the first leg already under their belt, the Bavarian approached the UCL Round of 16 away encounter with another demolition job in mind. The game was expected to be a formality and such was the case as Jupp Heynkecs men rehashed their statement of intent just 18 minutes into the first half.

A cross from Thomas Muller found Thiago at the far post and the former Barcelona made no error of it to put his side in the driving seat. An own-goal by Gokhan Gonul doubled the lead for the visitors before new-boy Vagnar Love pulled on back for the hosts in the 59th minute. The game was finally put out of reach after Sandro Wagner also got on the score sheet to ensure an 8-1 aggregate scoreline for his side.

At the moment, Bayern Munich’s goal tally stands at 102 in 39 games across all competitions this season. 65 of the goals have been scored in the Bundesliga, 18 in the Champions League, 14 in the DFB Pokal Cup, and two in the DFL-Supercup final. They have conceded only 29 goals in the process.
