The Italian footballer will end his playing career surrounded by some of his former colleagues and friends in May.

Andrea Pirlo's decision is final, and the player will put an end to his illustrious career in one of the best places to do so.

Speaking in a press conference, the former midfielder for Brescia, Inter Milan, Milan, Juventus and the Italian National Team announced the date and the stadium where he'll be playing his final match.

Pirlo Chose San Siro to play his final game on May 21, 2018. While some thought he would choose Juventus' stadium, the Italian maestro chose to bid farewell in the venue where he played for more than 12 years with Milan and Inter.

"It's the place where I spent most of my career, and it also simplifies things for those who will join me from abroad. I chose that date because it was also the date of my debut with Brescia, back in 1996,"Pirlo stated.

"I want to share this special moment with my former team-mates, friends and kids. I want us to have an atmosphere that helps us enjoy this moment. Most of my former colleagues have already confirmed their presence," the former midfielder added.

Pirlo played over 650 games for club and country. He won the Serie A title six times, two with Milan and four with Juventus. Added to that, he won the 2006 World Cup with the Azzurri side, beating France 5-3 after penalties.
