Le Classique may not have the pull it once did in past seasons, but it's still not a game to miss this Sunday. Here are four interesting facts ahead of one of French football's most famous rivalries.

On Sunday, Marseille take on PSG in the first edition of Le Classique of the 2017/2018 Ligue 1 season. This is by far the biggest rivalry in French football, and as things stand Les Parisiens lead the way, with a three point advantage over the chasing pack, including Monaco, albeit with a game in hand. Meanwhile, Marseille sit in fourth.

Arguably, it's going to be a straight battle between Monaco, who clinched the Ligue 1 title last term, and PSG for the domestic crown, whilst Nantes so far have had a very impressive term and will want to have a say in that race for as long as possible. In any case, here are five interesting facts to consider ahead of the showdown this Sunday, which fans will be even more interested in due to PSG's new look front-line featuring stars Edinson Cavani plus new signings Kylian Mbappe and the world's most expensive player, Neymar.

1. The player with the most appearances is...

Steve Mandanda. The Congolese-born French international goalkeeper has made 22 Classique appearances thus far from 2007-2016 and now has retrned to Marseille after a spell at Crystal Palace during the 2016/2017 season.

2. The player with the most goals so far is...

Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Now with Manchester United, the powerful Swedish attacker netted 11 goals during his four seasons with PSG (2012 - 2016). In terms of current PSG players, Edinson Cavani has four so far, so has quite a ways to catch Ibrahimovic, whilst both Neymar and Mbappe will be hoping to open their accounts this Sunday.

Cavani has not has as much luck scoring against Marseille as former colleague Ibrahimovic..whilst Mbappe will hope to open his Classique account on Sunday

3. The last time Olympique Marseille beat PSG was on...

November 27 2011, when L'OM won 2-1 at the Stade Vélodrome. None of PSG's star attacking trio were with the club. Cavani was playing for Napoli, Neymar for Santos, and Mbappe was...just 12 years old featuring for youth side AS Bondy.

4. PSG could potentially match...or top their best away win in history if...

They beat Marseille by more than a four goal differential. Their best record so far was a 5-1 result, set only back in on February 26th of this year. And with the way they're playing, no one should bet against them achieving just that!
