This summer's competition gave fans the chance to celebrate 169 goals. Over 3 million fans voted to elect the tournament's best goal.

There were 169 goals to choose from, and football fans all over the world have finally had their say.

With the tournament's conclusion 10 days ago, the only award left to have an owner was that of the Best Goal of the competition, and today, Les Bleus' fans have one more reason to be proud of their team, as Benjamin Pavard's stunning volley against Argentina was crowned as the best goal of the competition.

"I was trying to hit it in the direction it came from, which is what the strikers always tell me. I didn't think it over, and when it went in I just felt so happy," Pavard stated back when he scored the impressive goal.

Pavard's goal defeated some tough opponents en route to win the award, including Luka Modric's effort against Argentina (which finished third), Lionel Messi's only goal of the competition and Cristiano Ronaldo's stunning free kick against Spain.
