All was cool and calm in Sunday’s La Liga encounter before Paco Alcacer opened the scoring for the hosts via a Jordi Alba assist. A second look at the build-up before the goal highlighted that the Barcelona left-back was, indeed, in an offside position when he received the pass from Lionel Messi before putting in his low-cross.
The scene has, consequently, caused aggravation among rival fans who justifiably believe the goal should not have stood. With the damage already done, the Catalans seized the moment again and doubled their advantage 15 minutes away from half-time through Lionel Messi.
Below are the misgivings of some irate fans after the first blood was drawn by Paco Alcacer:
Wow another Barca goal offsides but nothing called

Barca score a offside looking goal and they don’t even review it what so ever

Barca can not play without controversy. Always tactical with offside and favoured with easy dives for penalties

Just imagine. The barca guy wasn't even offside.

La liga has the poorest referees in the world and they're arrogant about that poverty.
One is forced to wonder whether VAR can really help the hopelessness of la liga officials.
Barça ahead. VAR would probably have disallowed it, Alba looked marginally offside. Nice finish by Alcácer. #BarcaAthletic
