Despite Carlo Ancelotti’s sacking, Bayern Munich were not able to bounce with a positive result. The German champions followed their 3-0 loss to PSG with a 2-2 draw with Hertha Berlin to go five points behind leaders Dortmund.
More details surrounding the Italian’s sacking continues to emerge. The former Real Madrid boss had reportedly lost the support of the club’s senior players Manuel Neuer, Jerome Boateng, and Thomas Muller – and Philipp Lahm and Xabi Alonso from last season.
According to Kicker, those players felt that Ancelotti offered inadequate training for the defending Bundesliga players. Arjen Robben was also not pleased with Carletto’s regime, as only three-minute warm-ups were utilized by the Italian and fitness trainer Giovanni Mauri.
Additional training sessions were thus organized, but Ancelotti soon prohibited them. The players then went behind the manager’s back by arranging practice sessions without the tactician’s approval and awareness.
The Bavarians’ board was aware of the players’ frustration with the manager. The aforementioned players met with Karl-Heinz Rummenigge to complain about the training sessions after losing confidence and patience with the 58-year-old.
Furthermore, Robben reportedly told the club’s officials “there’s better training at my son’s youth team”. This appears to be another example of players ousting a manager.
